Background: Several studies have shown that abnormal vaginal flora associated with sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Content: Microbiome can be defined as an ecological community of commensal, symbiotic, and pathogenic microorganisms literally share the living in human body space. Studies showed uncircumcised men are more likely to populated by gram-positive negative bacteria or other pathogens. The is grouped into five microbiomes: community-state type (CST) I dominated L. crispatus; CST II gasseri; III iners; V jensenii. Whereas IV heterogeneous characterized higher proportion obligate anaerobic bacteria. Lactobacillus produces lactic acid bacteriocin, which contribute prevent bacterial growth maintaining a low pH (pH 3.0 - 4.5). Bacterial vaginosis (BV) syndrome occurs due dysbiosis microbiome. protective mechanism compromises BV, becomes entry point for organisms. Protection against C. trachomatis infection mainly generated produced Lactobacillus. also known inhibit survival N. gonorrhoeae. viral such HIV, HSV-2, HPV occur direct indirectby several complex integrated mechanisms. Conclusion: microbiome-based approaches promising outcomes both preventive curative measures infections.
